  • Embassy Suites Event Center 2353 Perry Road Plainfield, IN, 46168 United States (map)

I’ll be leading two sessions as part of the Indiana Afterschool Network’s 2026 Summit on Out-of-School Learning, a statewide convening focused on out-of-school learning and youth development.

Five Essential Tools for Grant Writing Success
Date: April 14, 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Grant writing challenges rarely start with writing. They begin with gaps in clarity, alignment, and preparation.

This session introduces five foundational tools that strengthen grant readiness and improve decision-making before the writing process begins. Participants will leave with practical steps to build a more stable and strategic approach to grant seeking.

The Power of Narrative: Storytelling for Impact
Date: April 14, 1:45–3:15 p.m.

Stories shape how funders and stakeholders understand your work.

In this interactive session, we’ll explore how to craft strengths-based narratives that center real people, reflect dignity, and communicate impact clearly. Participants will learn how to balance data with human-centered storytelling while avoiding common pitfalls like deficit framing.
